wifi not working while using power cable

Dear Forum Members,

I am using Aspire V3-371. I realized lately that I cannot connect to wifi networks while using power cable.

OS: Win 8.1 64bit

The WiFi adapter: Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter

The device driver is up to date according to the message I get when I try to update the driver from device manager.

Since some people talk about power settings causing somewhat similar problem, I checked and changed it in multiple ways - at Hi Performance/ Balance/ Saving modes, and detailed setting for WiFi network adapter either at "Maximum Performance" or "Power Saving (Hi)" In any combination of those, I cannot connect WiFi while using power cable. When I take off the power cable and run off the battery, I can reconnect to WiFi.

I have the same problem with multiple access points, so it should not be the problem with WiFi router.

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Best,

Aspire V17 Nitro VN7-792G-75RU notebook HDMI output failure

Hi, to the group. I am seeking help to troubleshoot an issue with my VN7 notebook noted in the subject.

Issue: the HDMI output on my VN7 notebook stopped working. The HDMI output was working fine. No hardware changes to notebook or external monitor since last known good. I've tested my HDMI cables and HDMI monitor using my desktop and tablet devices which all work fine to display output via HDMI on the same equipment. Did I mistakenly flip a bit or setting to disable HDMI on my notebook? Is there a way to run HDMI diagnostics on the VN7?

I also tried searching related questions asked by other members. The only thing close was a message about connecting to a television. I am connecting to a computer monitor and/or projector.

Here are my system specs:

WIndows 10 Anniversary Update causing freezing - any solutions?

0

Are you experiencing whole system freezes after the anniversary update? It's happening every 10-20 minutes and lasts about 30 seconds. People all over the web are reporting it on all sorts of different laptops. I am wondering if any Acer users have a fix.

Have you experienced it on your VN7? What's your solution?

I can't rollback. I tried and my whole system crashed. I had to reinstall Windows from scratch and all I could find was the Annniversary version. Now I'm stuck with it and the freezing.

acer aspire V3-372 unlocked advanced page

Hello!

I hate laptop bioses, they are way too limited.. Since I have bought this machine I should have full control over it.

I need access to hidden advanced settings on my bios but I cannot since its hidden... Mostly I need to change DVMT-preallocation value for intel GPU.

I know they are in there, I have been doing some research, but I hope acer employee or skilled member could help me on this.

If it cannot be revealed, I can promise this was the last acer laptop I purchase.

I don't care if methods violate warranty. I can always buy a new one.

MY laptop is Acer Aspire V3-372(-52SZ)

Default bios can be downloaded here

and here's the proof that the advanced settings page is actually there.

Hello, I have an acer aspire v15 v3-574g-70xl. As I use my laptop a lot at home, I would like to use it without battery, just with AC power most of the time, in order to preserve the battery. How would that be possible? The battery is not removable. Thanks.

Best regards,

Fabio

Windows updating freezing laptop - unusable - Acer only suggests win8.1 revert!

I have a VN7-791G-76Q2 laptop which is currently unusable as windows 10 update causes it to freeze indefinitely.

e.g. no apps open but have settings - windows-update open, says:

Updates are available for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3172729)
Preparing to install updates 98% - locks up

stays locked up until hard reset
same happens again
laptop unusable

Can anyone help?

(Tried Acer live chat - suggestion is to revert to windows 8.1 as was installed on year old laptop at purchase. (erm thanks, but no!))

Question About Repairs.

I've sent my laptop to Acer Repair Service because the screen is broken and the system won't boot. When I was talking to the technician on the phone, I mentiomed the screen problem and the system problem. But when I got the email from Acer, it had said System Won't Boot in the information. Just to mention the fan has a slight crack and some keys are missing. Will Acer repair my screen, and os and maybe even the keyboard on my model or will they just do what the email had said was the problem.

VN7-592G external GPU

Has anyone investigated connecting an external GPU over the USB-C/Thunderbolt port of this model?

It sounds possible, assuming the Acer bios supports it? Acer?

If so, what hardware have you used?

Many thanks

Intel hd graphics: what is specific ?

0
0

Hi,

I have a V3-574G Broadwell, Intel HD Graphics 5500. Official driver is from august 5th 2015. It's the one available on acer support website and it's also the one that microsoft will install automatically.

Running the install of a newer one gives an alert about incompatibility because of a manufacturer specificity, and refuse to install.

I know how to force it to install but I'd like to know what exactly is specific ? Is it due to the nvidia additional card ?

Also I'd like to say that Acer should care about drivers update support, Lenovo is by far better with that ...

Anyone knows something about intel hd graphics specificity ?

Thank you.

VN7 592g restarting when on battery

I have a problem with my 2 months old VN7 592g. Everytime i use it on battery, the notebook works few minutes (around 20-30), then restarts and keeps on restarting until i plug the adapter again. The restarts intervals are shorter every time to the point, when the notebook only boots and restarts after few seconds.

Battery is in good condition (barely used), drivers and bios were updated several times. I believe this is software issue, as after few restarts i see some window repair screen, which will last there long time if i dont choose any of the options.

And battery voltage is cca 12,5 volts when plugged, but falls down slowly to 11,5 - can that cause the issue?

Acer Aspire V3-772 Windows 8.1 clean install

0

So I upgraded to windows 10... It didnt work quite well and I decided to use eRecovery to return to windows 8 and then update to 8.1.

After the system restore I found out that windows was corrupt. (Windows worked, however I cant install updates)

So I decided to wipe everything and clean install windows 8.1, only to find out that I can only install it using Legacy Boot mode, using the UEFI it gives me the error: Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration, installation cannot proceed. (Already tried disabling secure boot, no success.) Legacy mode worked fine until I went ahead to re-install drivers, that's when I noticed that some hardware wasn't detected, my nVidia gpu for example.

Any help is appreciated. (Please... I'm so frustrated right now.)

And yes, I configured another usb to fully support UEFI boot, no success.

Aspire V15 Fan problems.

Hey everyone, just a quick question.

I have an Acer Aspire V15 V3-574-73Z1, it's a great laptop apart from the fan is very loud I have done everything and the only thing that seems to quieten it to reduce the minimum and maximum processor state to 30% or below however this slowens the laptop quite a bit.

So my question is, is there anything else I can do to quieten the fan without reduce the laptop speed.

V3-772g-9653 Win 10 CPU heat

0
0

Having successfully clean installed Windows 10, the only changes I've made are updating the chipset drivers, the sound driver and the Intel & nVidia gpu drivers.

At idle, the system temperature is a couple of degrees C hotter under Windows 10 on the mSATA SSD than it is on Windows 8 on the original HDD. In gaming however, I found the system to be less than satisfactory performance wise in Windows 10. Since I have to run HWMonitor to stop the HDD powering down constantly, I can see why this is. It felt like the game would start smooth, then get choppy, little bit of smooth, choppy so on and so forth. HWMonitor when I come out of the game shows that CPU temps are maxing out. I'm no stranger to this with this laptop, it has done this always, but only on certain games, and not constantly as it is doing at the moment. By that I mean, some games would never get the CPU above 90, and the ones that got it to 100, didn't do so, slow down and then be right back there immediately. There'd be a noticeable big change, and then it'd run good for a while then repeat.

Now it's like it reaches 100 throttles back rather than right down and is doing this at a much faster rate. There's no long period of ok followed by a short fps fall during throttle down, it's a pretty constant sub par fps with very short (second or two) smoother periods. Games that never make it overheat in Win 8 are overheating almost immediately in Win 10, making Windows 10 unusable for gaming.

Is there something I should install (something that was already present from the manufacturer within all that bloat that I never got rid of in the original win 8 environment) or a driver that I am missing which deals with this? If I can stop it from running a bunch hotter in W10 than it does in W8 I can migrate totally to W10 and enjoy the better system performance from having an OS located on a separate SSD.

The SSD does seem to run very warm compared to the original HDD, perhaps the issue I suffer from is caused by the extra heat generated by the mSATA SSD? It hasn't affected temps while running games under Windows 8 though, even though it's another device in the system running at near 50C (and it doesn't get much above that in Win 10 either, sure another 2C on that doesn't translate to 10 or 15C at the CPU?)

Advice appreciated.

ACER V3-772G Will not power with power cable alone...

0
0

Hi,

I have an Acer V3-772G which I have had from new (Semi New from Amazon, warehouse cosmetic damage), Have never experienced any issues with powering on/off/charging until recently.

Here is where I am up to;

  • Laptop will power up from the battery.
  • Laptop will not power up with cable alone (Battery removed).
  • When powered up with the batter inserted – the laptop will (according to the battery monitor on the laptop) charge the battery, however, the battery continues to discharge and the laptop will eventually run out of charge.
  • When the power cable is inserted whilst the laptop is powered up, the laptop recognises that the cable is connected and will enable the "Plugged in" power settings etc. If I then remove the battery, the laptop powers off.
  • Laptop seemingly charges the battery when it is powered off, however, even after a full night plugged in the battery doesn’t have the charge to start the laptop.
  • Both the external cable and the battery are in perfect working order (Having tested both with a separate Acer laptop).
  • I have opened and cleaned all connectors / fan / CPU / GPU inside the laptop and nothing looks out of place.
  • All USB / Optical Drive / HDMI ports ETC all work without issues.

I’m assuming a cable issue and not a main board issue because there are no other faults besides the DC cable (Battery will still power the laptop etc.). I have ordered a replacement 120w internal DC cable from the spare parts website to test my theory.

In the meantime while I wait for the delivery, can anyone suggest what might be the issue? Or if anyone has any further trouble shooting steps I can take, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Ian
