Hi, I just bought 2x 4gb PC3 12800 SODIMM RAM for my laptop knowing that only 2 of the 4 ram slots are used, but no matter how I position my new RAM sticks they do not fit in to the slots (3 and 4) that are above the already used slots. I've tried putting them in at a slight angle, straight on, etc. but they won't lock in and the metal arms are not lined up to the notches. Any ideas? Thanks.

v5 573pg panel upgrade(768p to 1080 IPS)
Dear Acer professionals,
The screen on my laptop is currently a 1366*768 TN panel and I'd like to change it into a 1080p IPS panel.
I know there are variations of the same model that offers 1080p displays.
My current panel is B156XTN03.1 and I'd like to change it into a B156HAN01.2(which is used by the 1080p version) however, it seems that my current panel is a eDP(1 lane) while the 1080p panel requires a eDP(2 lane).
I was wondering if my laptop will be able to upgrade to an 1080p IPS panel, thank you.

Where i can download all fresh drivers for my V5-573p-9899 laptor and what exactly do i need ?
Hello guys. I have Acer V5-573p-9899 laptor and i just installed new ssd instead of my old and slow hdd, but i have no idea what exactly drivers do i need to do my laptor works like it was first time turned on. I remember how much things i had preinstalled when i turned it on at the first time. And now i can only see on official Acer site that they have only chipset, vga, audio, touchpad and lan driver (i dont need such waste things like bluetooth and etc). Where is Dolby driver ? I remeber that i got huge list of drivers when ive opened Ccleaner program (it was like 5 drivers for Intel, 4 for usb and a lot of other things. So guys can u help me and tell what exactly i should install to make my laptor use all resources and all installed devices ? By the way i have windows 8 (not 8.1).
p.s I know that i can restore my pc to default settings and i tried it but it has soo much waste things (like clean.fi, a lot of media things that i've never used for last 2 years or owning that pc, etc). And i've tried to create through Acer eRecovery a flash drive to recover all drives but when i plug it in and open recovery application it has white screen like it didn't record any driver.

Aspire V5-591G-74PY
I've just aquired this laptop and installed Windows10 on it.
Everything looks good so far but the touchpad selection from the BIOS which is by default on "Adavanced".
Well, after startup working with the touchpad is a mess. It is working really bad. I've tryed all the combinations of the possible setings and the delay and lag and jumps of the cursor is like crazzy. The indicated driver:

is not making at all. I was trying also diferent versions of driver found on the other types or old ones without success.
I was almost determined to renounce to it and to get the money back and...
Finally changing the BIOS option to "Basic" and restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling the driver make it work just as expected. Why it should be like this ? Any idea for fix ? Did anyone had this kind of trouble also ? BIOS update is a guarante of good working ? This are the proposed updates:

My Laptop regularly freezes and is very slow!
Hi, I have a laptop V3-371 which worked perfectly until last week. After booting my machine regurlarly becomes very slow and freezes. After a hard reset I experienced the same problem over and over again. I then reinstalled the OS in safemode with a full erase of all data. This seems to work out for a while but soon I got the same issues again as mentioned before.
Is it a hardware problem (SSD drive Or Ram?) I've done all the tests within MS like Ram test, Window Defender and other problem checks. All seems Ok. But unfortunately it is not.
Anyone an idea what causes this problem?

Aspire V17 Nitro Black - eGPU
Greetings!

I couldn't find the model number listed there and it's still in the mail so that is the link to the product, I'm sure the technicians here are familiar with it.
I've read that, because it is a Black Edition that is equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 port it should fully support universal eGPU solutions designed to work with Thunderbolt 3.
However, I have also read that eGPU over Thunderbolt 3 may (in general) require special BIOS support that is not necessarily inherent in a laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 port.
As a result, I'm asking any knowledgeable members here as well as the technicians: does this laptop support an eGPU connection? I'm not trying to ask some kind of legally binding "gotcha" question - I understand that these are muddy waters and that Acer may not have conducted in-house testing on this. All I'm asking is what are the best guesses as to whether or not this would work based on what we currently know?
This laptop is especially interesting from an eGPU perspective because it is one of the few 17" 4k screens (which would benefit greatly from an eGPU) that has a Thunderbolt 3 port and is affordable - so I know I can't be the only one wondering this.
The laptop's only real weaknesses are its optical drive (premium laptops still coming out with DVD-RW when blu-ray has been out for years and years) and its port configuration (mouse-hand ports and offhand optical drive - should be the reverse). Other than that it's an excellent deal and could offer true future-proofing on a budget.

Have an Aspire V5-131 that has been in the box for almost 2 yrs, how should I go about starting it?
I'm not sure how to set up this notebook for usage. Like I said its been stored for a long time. Should I just charge the battery and see what happens? There is an access hole to reset the battery, should this be done first?

Dropped my laptop, it looks fine, but problem with wifi
So I dropped my laptop from the table, and the top was facing down. Nothing happened to the screen and everthing seems to be working fine. When I checked on the bottom right near corner, the top panel popped open (very small opening). I just pushed it down and it locked back in place. But, I have noticed that it takes way longer to search for a wifi connection.
When I tried to upload picture from my computer, it will not open the folder at all.
Does that sound like a serious problem?
Also just noticed it takes a long time to shut down...

Downgrading from Windows 10 to 8.1 on Acer V15 VN7-592G successful but need camera & mic drivers
I have successfully downgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 10 on my Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-592G laptop. I installed all the drivers from Acer's support site and all seems to be working fine so far, but the driver for the webcam will not install. It gives me an error stating that I need Windows 10 or later. But I don't like Windows 10 and prefer Windows 8. Is there any way I can get around this and get my webcam to work? Also, my speakers are working fine, but the built-in mic seems to not be working, unless there is no built-in mic. I just bought this laptop recently to use for audio and music production & mixing. If I can comfortably use Windows 8.1 on this system without any major errors, I will keep it. Otherwise I will return it. I'd at least like to be able to use my webcam and internal mic for skype calls on this, as I paid a good amount of money for it.
To be exact, the model I have is Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-592G-70EN.
Any help would be appreciated.

v5-122p After Windows 10 1607 update the power button menu no longer has sleep mode
I click the Start icon and the power button appears. The choices are hibernate, shut down, and restart but it no longer offers sleep as an option. "Sleep" was there prior to the W 10 update.
If I go to Settings > system > power and sleep > additional power settings > choose what the power buttons do,I don't see "sleep" in any of the choices that are offered.
anyone know how to add sleep as an option?
Can the power button be pinned to the task bar as it is on my Acer PC Aspire T3-600?

Acer Aspire V5-573pg closes browser when I use touch screen to navigate to tabs
As the title says. I use Firefox, practically every time I want to use the touch screen to move to another tab or open a new tab, it closes my browser. Does anyone have idea why, and how to fix this? Thank you!

Acer Aspire V3-472 plugged in not charging
My laptop is barley two years old, I got it in Fall 2014, and just today when I plugged it in it would not charge. I took it to Best Buy and after 40 mins of looking at it in the back while I wait the guy comes back out and says I should just get a new laptop...this is ridiculous there has to be a way to fix it that doesn't involve spending anther $300. Up until today I have tried taking the best possible care of my laptop, I only plug it in when it needs to be charged so I don't short out the battery and I keep it in a case so the port won't get damaged. I never had any big issues until today...

VN7-792G and Speed Shift Technology
With Skylake Intel introduced Speed Shift Technology(SST), it's interesting especially for mobile devices. But unfortunately it's disabled on VN7-792G. For those who don't know what SST is, it allows processor change frequencies more quickly to allow quicker responses from low power idle state.
It would be nice if Acer enabled SST in next BIOS update.

VN7-592G Thunderbolt 3 > Asus MB169C+ External Monitor
Hello everyone,
after having a phone call and getting an email from acer support, I was able to update my thunderbolt 3:
Does "External GPUs supported: No" means, that I can not use the Asus MB169C+ External Monitor?
When I plug in the monitor, the orange lamp shows that there is energy income, but as soon as I push the power button, it says: DisplayPort No Signal.
Given the fact that I do not have the original Asus Typ C cable and just a cheap USB Typ C cable from Caletex might this be the reason for beeing not able to see anything?
Should I try it with a real Thunderbolt 3 (20 Gbps) / USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 Cable Or even ask Asus to re-send me the original cable?

Acer V5-591G touchpad & resolution issues
Hi,
I am having an issue with my new Acer V5-591G.
1. My touchpad is freezing all the time, I'v reloaded all the touchpad drivers + installed the latest one - ELAN. But this is still not working how it should - touch pad is freezing, its just so laggy.
I am not able to get into the ELAN settings because they are not existing int he Mouse tab...
2. Resoultion. For e.g. in the Device Manager all the icons are blurred, but in the Chrome its high resolution.
Any idea how to solve that?
Specs: Acer V5-591G i7-6700HQ/16GB/240+1000/Win10 FHD GTX950M
