Iv'e been reading up on the process, and I have came across people talking about throtling issues and how it is very difficuit to replace.

 

So just for my peace of mind, could one of you confirm one of these is correct and would work fine?

The pro SSD looks like it has different connectors to the others. However all of those 3 I have seen people mention.

I bought the Acer Black V-17 Nitro edition LAST year on black friday. I can honestly say that this is the worst computer I have ever owned in my life. This is a post to warn all users away from Acer products, especially their laptops. This is a short list which I will elaborate on later because right now I am angry. Please respond Acer.

 

1. Using system recovery (via windows 10 OS app) crashes the system. I had to buy an "Acer recovery media" USB flashdrive just to get the OS/laptop to work again.

 

2. Specs are not what you believe, constant bottle necking and stuttering on games with well above the requirements.

 

3. 16GBs of RAM? More like 4. You are getting LESS for your money.

 

4. Onboard graphics card messes with nivida resulting in lower performence on an already less-than-stellar GTX 960M

 

4. Windows 10 systems do not work properly

 

5.Web browser is constantly freezing, pausing, etc etc.

 

6. Gaming laptop? One of the most horrible gaming experiences in my entire life. I spent $1000 a year ago for a BAD gaming laptop I suppose. '

 

7. Constant overheating issues even with no internet tabs / gaming even being open.

 

8. Trackpad issues, even after being turned off for a mouse.

 

9. The entire laptop comes with so much bloatware, even the USB recovery.

 

 

This is by far the worst computer I have ever owned. Please stay away from acer laptops if you value your money paid per dollar. I also have all information on hand for Acer techs, I have called you guys before. Hi! My notebook ( Acer Aspire V15 V5-591G-5014) came preinstalled with Dolby Digital by standard, but I had to reinstall my sound driver and I can't find a way to install Dolby Digital. I really love the way it transforms the sound of the notebook's speakers so I really would like to have the software. Any suggestions?

Hi Acer! For V5-122P-61454G50nss and win10 1) After updating the Anniversary Update and suffered many problems microsoft advised me to update my Acer video card driver - VGA, what I did with mostly good results! 2) I observe, however, now a new problem: I can no longer put up and down at the light on the screen with Fn + → and ←! I now have an idea that maybe I should update additional drivers from Acer !! 3) Can you help me and say, with which driver I start? Yours sincerely Lasse

Moving up from Dell Laptop to newer hardware and better screen.

Old - Dell Inspiron N5030 (2010), New - Aspire V17 Nitro Black (2015?).

 

The Good - Aspire is fast! Wide screen.

The Bad - Network jack sucks, who picked that hardware? Needs their heads examined.

The Ugly - It's an IPS panel but lacks on-board color controls. That's major disappointing, how did that happen?

 

Win 8.1 Metro GUI - Ugh, 'nough said.

 

Need to find <Num Lock> lock down setting. In the BIOS? How doI I get to the BIOS? ACER Onboard help is typicaly bad, lots of words,not the help I need. Why can't anybody get that right?

 

Could not install Xrite color management - says it needs dot net 4.6; hangs up on install and won't somplete. Drat!

 

Tried to install/update to Win 10. Hangs ups at 99% and won't complete. Drat x 2.

Hi there

I have a problem with updating my intel driver on my Aspire v3-772. Currently my driver page states that version

10.18.10.3355 is the latest, but the problem begins when i run intel driver update utility and try to install the latest driver 15.36.31.4414 straight from intel.The program installs normally and asks to restart my laptop to apply the final changes but after reboot when i run the intel driver update utility it states that my driver still needs to be updated again with the same driver software meaning the previous installation didn't install properly.

 

Is there a way to install the latest driver or a way to contact acer to update their custom intel driver for my laptop?

 

PS - I tried unistalling the previous version from acer then installing the version from intel it didn't work

I want to install Linux (Ubuntu) and dual-boot my laptop. But I want to know, if somehow I mess up my Win10 can I reinstall the OS from recovery media created from Media Creation Tool? Will the new installation read my Win10 license from the BIOS? Will I be in any kind of trouble if I dual-boot my device?

Hi everyone,

i have an Acer Aspire V3-574G-7683, and i would like to know the key (or combination of keys) to access the BIOS when you boot the computer.

I have had issues with my computer (hard drive usage to 99 or 100%, with my computer getting extremely slow, to the point i couldn't go on the Acer recovery program on Windows 8.1 - my system is 8.1 64 bits) and luckily i could read (it worked on my computer) that if you do ALT + F10 (i did both keys, maybe only F10 was enough i can't know) at the beginning of the boot you can access the recovery to get your computer back on the factory settings.

 

But here is my question : what if i want to replace the HDD (it's a 1To 5400rpm) to get the SSD i bought (Crucial MX300 750Go), would i be able to copy the content of my HDD (what i have on my HDD is clearly less than the 750Go of my SSD) + the partition that is used for the recovery (saved me today ) with the software Acronis True Image HD (given with the Crucial SSD) so that whenever i need to use the Acer Recovery in the future i will be able to do it from the SSD like it's possible on the HDD my computer came with ?

 

Last question : if i want to do a clean install of windows 8.1 or 10 (not use the Acer Recovery) i need to make a bootable DVD or USB drive with either Windows 8.1 or 10 downloaded from the ISO Microsoft puts on his website ?

And then i boot (what key allows me to get to the BIOS when booting the computer ? thanks) from the bootable DVD or USB drive i made from the Microsoft ISO ?

Hey There,

 

I have an Acer Aspire V3-731 laptop (8 GB DDR3 memory, Intel Core i3, 2.3GHz, 3Mb L3). I use this omputer for work, would like to upgrade the ram, might the cpu as well.

 

I have seen "Crucial 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 SODIMM" memory to upgrade, is it good or? Could you recommend me anything?

I am looking to upgrade the SSD in my Aspire V5 (552p-x404 touch), but it recently came to my attention that some of these computers use 5mm slim hdds, which means the cavity might not accomidate a standard 2.5" by 7mm drive (like a samsung or WD). 

 

Can anybody confirm that this laptop can fit a 7mm SSD?

I have an Aspire V 17 Nitro laptop, and near the keyboard is a sticker that says it comes with Dustdefender. I can't find it anywhere, I am almost positive it is not on my laptop. Where do I find it, and if it isn't installed, where do I download it from?

Hello all, is it possible to "upgrade" a V-571-6499 which has a standard non-touchscreen display with a 571P model touchscreen? Yes, I'm aware that a digitizer logic board will be required as a separate item. However, does the m/b have the interface to connect to a digitizer logic board and a touchscreen?

I have an Acer Aspire V5-571P laptop. I am looking for a dock that I can insert my laptop into that would power my laptop while taking HDMI out to a monitor and connect a USB keyboard and mouse (also an ethernet connection and audio out, too, if possible).

 

I use my laptop portably frequently so I do not want to have to connect each of these cables in a mess individually each time I want to use my laptop at my desk with the external monitor and peripheralls. Does such a dock exist for my laptop model? I am thinking of either a dock with all of these ports lined up that just slots into each of the ports on the left side of the laptop, or else a port that slots into the battery port on the bottom backisde of the laptop if these exist.

I have a v3-572p and I wiped my drive and I am trying to install windows 10 from a USB that was made using the creation tool from Microsoft but everything I try to do this it reboots after copying and such the first time then it gets stuck on the black screen with the blue windows logo and the spinning circle saying getting ready and it is not frozen the wheel keeps spinning.

au début, lors de l'utilisation des majuscules et du pavé numérique un cadenas s'affichait en haut et au milieu de l'écran indiquant si j'étais ou pas en majuscule ou si le pavé numérique était ouvert, et depuis hier plus rien

 

que faire ?

 

j'ai téléchargé un petit logiciel keyboard LEDs et là tout va bien

 

mais pourquoi ce cadenas a disparu

I have an Acer V3-772G running Windows 10 (originally came with Windows 8). I'm trying to restore the system to its factory state (basically what I want is fresh Win 10 with Acer bloat). I'm doing this because I'm selling the laptop to CEX here in the UK and they insist on computers being FACTORY reset. Otherwise I'd simply do a clean install of Win 10.

 

MAIN PROBLEM: The reset from eRecovery starts without problems, reboots the machine and seems to be doing its thing. However after about 15 minutes the pc reboots and I'm greeted with message like "Reset encountered an error and could not be completed. No changes have been made."

 

POTENTIAL UNDERLYINGY ISSUES:

 

- This computer's recovery partitions have been through some hard time with the Win 8.1 update and the Win 10 update. Is that simply the problem? See my old forum post https://community.acer.com/t5/Legacy-Laptops-and-Netbooks/Windows-RE-image-can-t-be-found/td-p/304944

 

- The original hard drive was cloned to an SSD and was used as storage. When running in this configuration, eRecovery wouldn't allow me to reset at all (totally understandable). Now I'm running Windows from the hard drive again (however the SSD is still in the laptop). Could this be the issue?
